After owning sports cars and sport bikes I decided it was time to try out a cruiser. Wanting to try something that would be reliable, look good, be fun to ride, and have enough power to get around town while keeping gas mileage in a good spot.

I looked into every option I could find and narrowed it down to just a couple of bikes and decided I would make my final choice on what I could find locally that would be in good condition and for a good price. I found this M50 for sale from a small motorcycle dealership about an hour away so I took a drive to check it out. Lucky for me it was in the condition the dealership said it was so I took it for a quick test ride and found it rode perfectly. The rear tire had about one season left so I negotiated with the dealer to put a new tire on it and off I went.

Some of the reasons I picked the M50 over its competition are that it was fuel injected, is driveshaft driven so there’s no chain or belt maintenance, it’s known for its reliability, and the 805ci engine was the right size for me as I use it for riding around the town and the backroads and not on the interstate.

It came with a huge windshield, saddle bags, and rear seat which were all promptly removed as soon as I got home. Again, I don’t take it on long trips nor do I ride on the interstate so I didn’t need either. Not to mention the bike looks 100 times better without all the added accessories.

I only made a couple of small changes to the bike. I swapped out the stock headlight with an LED one for added safety. I had to change the stock exhaust to give the bike a good sound so I put on Cobra drag pipes, with the baffles still in it has the perfect sound level and tone.

It’s a great motorcycle and I thoroughly enjoy riding it. During the summer months, I take it to work any day the weather cooperates, and plan to never go without a motorcycle again.

Stay safe, be kind, and help those in need.
