When it came time to purchase a GMT/Diver style watch I compared all the different watches I could find including, but not limited to; Oceaneva Deep Marine Explorer GMT, Tag Heuer Aquaracer GMT, Steinhart Ocean One GMT, Marc & Sons Series GMT Steel, among many others. I handled as many as I could and for those not available locally, I watched and read every review I could. I researched not only the individual watches but also the company and their standing within the watch community.

Through all my research I continually came back to the Davosa Ternos Professional TT GMT, while slightly more expensive than some of the competition the build quality stood above the rest. Now the decision came down to which design I preferred, I settled on the Black-Blue “Batman” and could not be happier with my decision.

Davosa is a well-known Swiss watchmaker that began its craft in 1881 and as of this writing is celebrating its 140 year anniversary of watchmaking.

First things first, this is not a replica watch, at no point does Davosa or the watch pretend to be something it isn’t. I have no desire to own a replica but I am simply unwilling to pay the overinflated prices that Rolex watches are currently demanding. The Davosa is a homage watch, nothing more, nothing less.

I ordered my watch from Davosa’s official US supplier Davosa USA (www.davosa-usa.com). The watch was shipped out quickly leaving Tel Aviv and arriving at my house in the United States just a couple days later. The shipping box was very well packaged with several layers of DHL packaging bags wrapped over the box to better protect it. When I opened the box I found my Davosa watch boxes individually wrapped and protected. Upon inspection, the watches, the boxes, and all the contents were in perfect condition. I let out a huge sigh of relief as we all know when a package ships overseas and transfers between that many people they are not handled gently.

Here’s a list of the official specs as given by Davosa:

  • 42mm case diameter
  • 5mm case height
  • Swiss automatic winding movement ETA-2893 with second time zone function and date function
  • Water resistant to 200 meters
  • Antiglare, flat sapphire crystal with date magnifier
  • Scratch-resistant two-tone sapphire bezel
  • Super-LumiNova
  • Stainless steel case and metal bracelet
  • Screw down crown

Looking at the beautifully laid out dial your eyes are drawn to the Mercedes hour hand and lollipop seconds hand, all of which are adorned in Super-LumiNova to ensure they are always readable, even in the darkest of nights. Aligned at the three o’clock position is the date window with magnifier. The dark blue GMT hour hand blends in beautifully with the black dial, it’s not overtly obvious when you don’t need it but your eyes adjust to it quite nicely when it’s needed. With its GMT hand it’s a breeze to track two different time zones but add in the two-color, unidirectional ceramic bezel with 120 clicks, you can now track a third.

The stainless-steel bracelet does not make the cheap rattling sound from lesser-made watches. It shows near perfect tapering, which along with a comfortable bracelet makes the watch an absolute joy to wear all day. I had no issues with my skin being pinched and with the micro adjustments I have the ability to make changes on the fly if needed. The watch has a nice weight to it that makes it feel substantial without being to heavy or feeling to light as cheaper watches normally do.

With a warranty of two years, I know if something goes wrong, I’ll have plenty of time to have it repaired or replaced.

All in all, I could not be happier with my purchase, it is my favorite watch in my collection and one that when properly maintained will become a generational watch handed down again and again. This is the watch that turned me into a true, red-blooded Davosa fan. I have continued to add more Davosa’s to my collection.

Stay safe, be kind, and help those in need.
