When you want the biggest, baddest, and highest quality OTF (Out The Front) automatic knife, look no further than the Microtech Combat Troodon. You won’t find an OTF that comes out with the same level of authority as the Combat Troodon, nor will you find one built to the same high quality standards.

Blade: The blade is made out of CTS 204P stainless steel which has extremely high wear and corrosion resistance. While I do like to wipe down the blade after use there’s no need to scrub everything off like on lesser blades. Maintenance is kept to an absolute minimum, including the lack of need to resharpen it regularly with high use, as you’d find elsewhere.

Handle: The beautifully anodized handle is made from  6061-T6 aluminum. Like the blade, this is resistant to corrosion and wear while remaining extremely lightweight.

Deployment: If you’ve ever had the pleasure of using any Microtech automatic knife then you’ll know they come with an awesome amount of force. And being a double action OTF, the Combat Troodon also retracts the blade with the same ferocity that it expels it. It does take some effort to work the lever but with very little practice you won’t even notice it anymore.

Verdict: I’m not going to hide that this was my grail knife for some time. After finally getting to the point where I was willing to spend the amount Microtech charges (There’s no such thing as a cheap Microtech) and receiving it I am happy to say that it perfectly met all my expectations. I could not be happier and fully endorse it to anyone looking to buy the pinnacle of OTFs.

Stay safe, be kind, and help those in need.
